NOW GmbH, in cooperation with the Clean Energy Partnership (CEP), held an international information event on 21 April 2021 on current developments and discussions on heavy-duty transport using hydrogen and fuel cell technology.

Jan Zerhusen from Ludwig-Bölkow-Systemtechnik (LBST) presented the current study Imported hydrogen fuels for long distance trucking in Germany (video recording available here) by LBST, conducted in cooperation with sphera and prognos.

This was preceded by keynotes from Jörg Starr, Chair Clean Energy Partnership (CEP), Kurt-Christoph von Knobelsdorff, Managing Director NOW GmbH and Bart Biebuyck, Executive Director FCH JU.

Other talks were given by Toyota, Hyundai, Daimler Truck AG, Linde, and Cryomotive, presenting new approaches for refuelling with liquid hydrogen (LH2), the technical advantages of pressurized hydrogen at cryogenic temperatures and the advantages and technical standards of pure gaseous hydrogen. New developments on the topic of infrastructure for refuelling long-distance transport with hydrogen were also presented (including PRHYDE).
