On behalf of GIZ GmbH (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and together with the project partners Rebel and TÜV SÜD, LBST has contributed to the development of a roadmap for the establishment of technical standards and certifications of the green hydrogen value chain for the Namibian Standards Institution (NSI).

International technical standards and sustainability certification were assessed through workshops, interviews and gaps analyses.

Part I of the study compares Namibia’s current standards with global best practices, identifies key gaps and opportunities and provides recommendations to improve Namibia’s standardization capacity. A particular focus is on technical standards for green hydrogen, sustainability certification and the role of the Namibian Standards Institution (NSI) in supporting the development of a robust hydrogen economy.

Part II of the study builds on the findings, results and recommendations of the scoping study and outlines the necessary steps and strategic initiatives that NSI should pursue to effectively contribute to Namibia’s hydrogen sector.
